The [community profile] sg1friendathon has officially begun! \0/

The first entry is up on LJ, over here. There are many more stories in the queue on LJ than there are here on DW; if we can, the mods will try to post an entry directing you to the day's fic (and do the same on LJ, for when the daily story is hosted here).

Just a reminder: we will be releasing the stories at a rate of one per day, in the order in which they were submitted. I hope everyone will read and enjoy. :)

Tomorrow, October 1, the SG-1 Friendship Ficathon goes live!

We've got lots of stories in the queue, and they'll be released one per day in the order in which they were submitted. Those of you who have your stories private-locked in your own journals will be given notice in time to make your entries public before your community post goes up. Hopefully, you've all given us your e-mail addresses already, so we'll be able to do that...

If you have not yet submitted your story, don't panic - it's still September 30th for several hours yet! If you have to request an extension, please e-mail us at sg1friendathon[at]gmail[dot]com immediately. We can work something out with you if necessary, but only if you get in touch with us. (Our thanks to those who have already done so.)

Comment below if you've got any last-minute questions, or even if you just want to type the equivalent of screaming and running around in circles. :)

How's everyone doing with their Friendship Ficathon stories? With the ficathon going live on October 1st, there's just one week left to go to deadline!

If you want to panic, boast, or simply let off steam, let us know in the comments. :)

Remember that you can submit your story to the comm whenever it's ready. We've already got three fics waiting in the queue! \0/ Also, if RL or other issues prevent you from completing your story on time, please let us know as soon as possible. Further technical details are explained here.

One final reminder: many of you who have signed up have not yet given us an e-mail address. Please spare the mods the need to hunt you down when we need to get in touch by either dropping us an e-mail directly at sg1friendathon at gmail, or leaving your e-mail address at this screened entry. Thanks!

The claims period has officially ended. It's writing time now! We've got six weeks until everyone's entries should be submitted so we can go live on October 1st.

The prompts entry is still open; if you haven't yet made a claim or you want to take a second one after finishing your first fic, you're more than welcome to do so! Just remember that you're committing yourself to finish it by October 1st.

Authors, you should all have received an e-mail confirming your address. If you have not received such an e-mail, please check your spam folder. If it's not there either, you may have forgotten to give us your address in the first place! Comment at this screened post and leave us your e-mail, or e-mail us at sg1friendathon [at] gmail [dot] com.

Most of us haven't gone beyond vague ideas as yet (hurray for those of you who are already writing!), but here's a detailed explanation of how to submit your fic when the time comes.

lots of details below )

The Friendship Ficathon has now moved into the claims period! This stage will run for two weeks, from August 4th through August 18th. During that time, each participant may claim one prompt only. By claiming a prompt, you are committing yourself to writing a minimum of 1,000 words of gen fic by September 30th. Stories should be proofread and preferably beta'd.

In order to avoid accidental multiple claims of the same prompts, all claiming is taking place on the comm's LJ mirror. If anyone here at DW has a problem with making a claim on LJ, please comment here and let me know.

After August 18th, any unclaimed prompts may still be claimed - either by someone who has already completed their first prompt and wishes to do another, or by someone who has not yet joined the ficathon. Also, if you are having trouble with your ficathon story and would prefer to exchange your prompt for another, you may comment at the claims post, turn in your original prompt, and claim a new one.

All participants of the ficathon must give us a working e-mail address. Comment at this screened post and leave us your e-mail, or e-mail us at sg1friendathon [at] gmail [dot] com. We must be able to get in touch with you!

Stories are due on September 30th, but you may post them to the comm (either at DW or LJ, as you prefer) whenever you are ready to do so. Stories will be released from the queue one at a time, once per day, in the order in which they are submitted. The ficathon will last for as long as we have stories to post! :)

If, for some reason, you find that you cannot finish your story in time, let the mods know. You can e-mail us or leave a comment at the screened e-mail post.

When the ficathon is complete, we will have a week of Ficathon Frenzy, in which anyone can write stories of any length based on any unclaimed prompts.

If you have any questions or concerns, feel free to comment here. If you prefer to keep your questions private, you may comment at the screened post or e-mail us directly.

It's been two years since our last round. Time for a new one!

Look for an entry this Sunday for submitting prompts. There will be no obligation involved with prompting; you'll just be helping inspire ideas for potential authors.

See you all then!

The Ficathon Frenzy is now open for stories of any story length! Submissions are no longer being screened, so feel free to post ficlets based on any of the unclaimed prompts from the year's ficathon.

You'll find more detailed instructions here. The prompt list is here. Anything that isn't struck out is fair game.

The Frenzy will run for a week. Here's hoping we'll see lots of great stories!

Stringertheory started off this year's Friendathon with Grill Mates. In the second week, her Bygones and Proper Introductions was posted. Today, we've released two more of her fics: Anything You Can Do over on LJ, and Shooting the Breeze here on DW. But Stringertheory has a lot more completed prompts for the ficathon -- another seven, in fact! -- so the mods have decided to make today Stringertheory Day.

[personal profile] stringertheory will be posting her fics throughout the day. I don't know if she'll choose here or LJ or do a mixture of both, but keep an eye on the comm for more great fic! All her stories will be included in the week's tally entry, and of course in the master post.

When Stringertheory Day is over, the mods will be posting their own stories to end the ficathon, although we still have Ficathon Frenzy to come. We're almost at the end, folks, and it's been a fantastic ride thanks to all of you. :)

Warriors of Great Skill and Cunning, by Curuchamion. Sam. Bra'tac.

In which Vala agrees with Indiana Jones, by Rbmifan. Daniel. Vala.

Act III at the Dancing Leo, by Gategremlyn. Daniel. Vala.

Wherever We Go, by Gingasaur. Jonas. Vala.

Ashes of Tulsa, by Jennickels. Team.

The round-up for week one can be found here. Week two is here.

As we've mentioned before, the comm will be thrown open for a Ficathon Frenzy with further details under the cut. )

Suzannemarie and I would like to thank everyone who participated so far, including those of you still waiting patiently for your turn in the queue. The ficathon has been a wonderful success and it's fantastic to see such a high quality of gen fic. Here's to more SG-1 squee!

It's hard to believe, but we're only a week away from releasing our first story from the queue -- assuming, of course, that everyone gets their stories submitted on time, :) With ten fics already waiting in the queue and lots more being written/betaed/frantically contemplated, it's looking very exciting.

A few reminders for you:

Detailed instructions on how to submit your story can be found here.

Beta seekers/volunteers can comment here.

We'll be releasing stories from the queue at the rate of one per day, in the order in which the stories are submitted. Most stories have been submitted over at LJ, not here, but the mods will try to post links to the LJ entries each day so that DW participants don't miss out. And, of course, there will be a master post when the ficathon ends.

Two new tidbits:

If you've chosen to have your story on your own journal and submitted your entry as headers and a link (which is perfectly fine), the mods will e-mail you to let you know when your entry will clear the queue, so you'll have time to make your fic accessible by unlocking the entry.

After some discussion, the mods have decided to allow Ficathon Frenzy after all the regular stories from the ficathon have already been posted. We estimate that this won't happen until late August/early September, but at that time, the comm will be thrown open to fics of any length based on any of the unclaimed prompts. They will still have to be gen, but there will be no claiming of prompts and no minimum length requirements. So if you've thought of joining the ficathon but weren't sure you could satisfy the criteria, we hope you'll enjoy us for Ficathon Frenzy!

It's three weeks to July 31, when everyone's entries should be submitted so we can go live on August 1. How's everyone doing? We're very excited to have several stories already waiting in the queue. It looks like the [community profile] sg1friendathon is shaping up to be a real success!

For those of you (like me) who are still in the planning/writing/editing/panicking-and-running-around-in-circles stage, you're not quite ready to submit your fic... but it is time to know how to do it. :)

The most popular choices for the ficathon's timing were right now and next month. After a bit of analysis (including multiple choices) and discussion, we're going with the former. So...

The 2011 SG-1 Friendathon goes live later today!

This is how the ficathon will work:

stage one: prompts )

stage two: claims )

stage three: writing )

stage three: fic! )

[community profile] sg1friendathon's timeline is as follows:

May 26-June 1: Prompts submitted.

June 2: Master list of prompts posted.

June 2 - June 9: Prompts claimed.

June-July: Stories written and submitted to the comm.

August 1: Stories begin posting.

Spread the word to your reading circle! We go live with prompts later today. Feel free to comment here if you've got any comments or suggestions.
