2011 Friendathon: instructions and scheduling
The most popular choices for the ficathon's timing were right now and next month. After a bit of analysis (including multiple choices) and discussion, we're going with the former. So...
The 2011 SG-1 Friendathon goes live later today!
This is how the ficathon will work:
Prompts. Writers - and readers! - submit screened prompts. Offering prompts does not commit you to writing! When the prompting period ends, all the prompts will be collated into a single entry and presented for...
Claims. During claims week, authors may claim one prompt on a first-come, first-served basis. The mods will strike out prompts as they're claimed. Claiming a prompt commits the author to have the story ready for posting on the due date.
When claims week ends, the master prompt post will still remain open. Any author who wishes to choose a second prompt, or someone who is struck by last-minute inspiration, is more than welcome to claim a prompt and...
Write. All stories must be gen. Peripheral canon pairings are permitted - for example, a Daniel and Skaara prompt may take place during Daniel's year on Abydos when he was married to Sha're, or a pre-series Jack and Kawalsky prompt may reference Sara and/or Charlie, or a Teal'c and Bra'tac prompt can refer to Drey'auc or Shau'nac or Ishta. But the pairing may not be the primary point of the story, and any non-canon pairing (such as Jack/Sam or Daniel/Vala or anyone/original character) may not be included, whether it's ship, pre-ship, or UST. Don't forget, this ficathon is about friendship. :)
Stories must be a minimum of 1,000 words, and should be spell checked and reviewed by a beta if possible. When your fic is complete to your satisfaction, you may submit it to the comm, either in its entirety or as a link to a screened entry on your own journal. It will remain in the queue until reveal day, when we...
Post stories. Stories will remain screened until all the stories are ready. At that time, the mods will begin releasing fics from the queue in the order in which they were submitted, at the rate of one or two a day. From that point, everyone can...
Read! And enjoy the friendship squee! :)
sg1friendathon's timeline is as follows:
May 26-June 1: Prompts submitted.
June 2: Master list of prompts posted.
June 2 - June 9: Prompts claimed.
June-July: Stories written and submitted to the comm.
August 1: Stories begin posting.
Spread the word to your reading circle! We go live with prompts later today. Feel free to comment here if you've got any comments or suggestions.
